Best of Alt / Indie Pop - (10+ Picks) Week 25 2013

6/26/13

One of BitCandy’s life goals is to destroy what we consider bad music. And apparently we’re not the only ones out there fighting crime; just ask Aaron Carter, who recently got his butt whooped by die hard fans of New Kids On The Block. Ouch! Aaron could have saved himself a lot of pain if he kept up with our weekly PopSmut. Too late now, the only thing we can do for him is mail some meat packs for his eye and a ‘Get Well’ card.

Enough of that, how about we get started with our favorite alternative and indie pop songs from the past week.

Robyn - U Should Know Better ft. Snoop Dogg

U Should Know Better’ was originally released in 2010 as part of Robyn’s album, Body Talk. Sure, the gender swaping video is all types of cray cray, but what's crazier is that for the first time in a long time, Snoop Lion/Dogg isn’t selling out and doing something lame.

FMLYBND - Electricity (Out Now)

The buzz of the soon to be next big thing in electro-pop music is quickly getting around because of their latest track, ‘Electricity.’  Watch the video and grab your free copy of the song over at soundcloud.

Work (Summer Six -- Live from The Great Escape)

The talented hotter than Gwen Stefani rapping bombshell is a beacon of fabulousness. Iggy azalea puts in the ‘work’ and thank god cuz the female rapping world is in desperate need of her.

Wise Blood - "Rat" (Official Video)

First of all NO! This is not Jesse Pinkman, like so many on YouTube suggest. However, he might as well be cuz he’s a hot mess who’s running around and getting in trouble. This track is to be enjoyed while faded or cooking up a Walter White special. Wise Blood’s debut LP is is out today via Dovecote.

Laura Mvula - That's Alright

The difference between a woman like Laura Mvula and Beyonce is that you don’t have to sell sex to produce a great empowering song. But then again, flashing your body is the difference between 185 million views to 411k views on YouTube. Does anyone else agree?

Atlas Genius - 'If So' (TheFatRat Remix)

Changing gears for a bit to bring you the latest from L.A. producer, TheFatRat, who creates a killer danceable track. Turn it up and get movin.

Kitty - Barbie Jeep (Cassidy Rose)

Thanks to our curator Cassidy for the heads up on this sexy bager. Call me crazy, but this is a pretty solid summer dance jam courtesy of Kitty, formerly known as Kitty Pryde.

Ella Fitzgerald - Too Darn Hot (RAC Mix)

All I can say about this remix is daaaaamn and thank you! You’re going to need a nice cold beer and a fan to cool off. RAC kills it!

Ellie Goulding I Need Your Love (live acoustic version)

Goulding covers her own song of ‘I Need Your Love.’ I personally prefer this side of her, quiet and raspy. This version in perfect for canoodling on a sandy beach.

Gallant - Die Young (Ke$ha Cover) [prod. Felix Snow]

We’re ending this post with a cover that blew my mind, mainly because he made me forget that his cover was a Ke$ha song. Thank you to the new Curator that we have yet to announce for tipping us on this gem...keep your eyes peeled for a new addition to the team here.

Well, that’s all for this Wednesday. Hate to leave you, but I’m on hold with TMZ trying to get Aaron Carter’s number. Make sure to stop by BitCandy’s Internet Radio to listen to more of your indie/edm/pop favorites. Catch you guys later!
