12/24/14

What better way to celebrate Christmas than to shove 10 of the hottest Indie Pop songs down your adorable little ears? It’s part of our gift to you and the best part is this is a gift that you can share with everyone at your Christmas dinner. Yayyy! Enjoy this week’s favorites from Fall Out Boy, Death Team, ContrA and others. Happy holidays!

ED SHEERAN - THINKING OUT LOUD (X ACOUSTIC SESSION)

I swear to gawwd, Ed Sheeran is the only red-head on this earth to have a soul. “Thinking Out Loud” is my jam right now. Just wish I had a bea to dedicate it to.

FALL OUT BOY - AMERICAN BEAUTY / AMERICAN PSYCHO

Shit well I ‘ll just let YouTuber Mia Allen go to town on this one. “Basically the boy is the psycho and the ballerina is the beauty, but the beauty represents his problems, because the beauty is the real psycho, in the beginning he goes to smash his problems (I.e. Anxiety, Depression, self harm, self loathing) but he gets caught up in them and loses himself in them.”

IMAGINE DRAGONS - GOLD (AUDIO)

Well if this doesn’t give you a boner I don’t know what will. Gold has everything you would expect from a great alternative rock sound. If you’re not a fan of Imagine Dragons yet I am sure their sophomore album Smoke and Mirrors will make you one.

SLAPTOP - SUNRISE (OFFICIAL VIDEO)

Sunrise pretty much sums up my life. The California indie artist Slaptop showed up in our radar because of one of our awesome curators. Lots of kisses for that discovery yo! Hey, speaking of curators if you guys know of someone you think has great music, drop us a line or a comment. We’ll check ‘em out.

DEATH TEAM - FUCKING BITCHES IN THE HOOD (DOUBLE LOOP EDIT)

Fucking Bitches In the Hood is the kind of song that will replay in your head after you’re done listening to it. It’s the sweetest hood song ever and perhaps the best hipster/mainstream song this month. Wait hipster/mainstream? WTF is that genre. Jeezus, where do people come up with this stuff? Anyways, listen to it and get your hood rat face on.

OUF - SLUMBER CITY

It’s been a great year for the Swedes. One of the most refreshing acts to come out is hip hop duo OUF. I suggest you dive into their track on Soundcloud, it will make you trip balls in a good way.

CONTRA - 1992

1992 just doesn’t do it for me. But I guess there are people who like the old.school sounding stuff. What do you guys think?

KEVIN ABSTRACT - BUBBLEGUM/ IWB (PROD. DEAR//FACE, ROMIL, KIKO MERELY)

I am always excited to listen to Kevin Abstract’s latest material. The guy’s got so many tricks up his sleeve, it’s crazy. Caution: The following two tracks are meant to be listened by mature ears. Bubblegum and IWB are too far out that some of you won’t be able to handle.

APB - WRITE MY SONG (KMS REMIX)

I may have had one too many glasses of eggnog right now, but I recognize a damn sexy song when I hear one. KMS delivers a mesmerizing remix of APS’ single, "Write My Song." This remix is pure perfection.

RAC - DREAMS (FT. PINK FEATHERS) THE CRANBERRIES COVER

RAC is a god! His take on Dreams has that signature warm touch of his. The vocals of Pink Feather’s take this remix to a whole new level. Take a listen above and let yourself relax to the soothing vibes.

And that’s it for now. Have yourselves a very merry Christmas beetches.

About Beca Arredondo

Beca Arredondo is easily unamused with all things not related to her interests. On her good days you can catch her avoiding the California sun and glued to her Mac plotting the next big thing. If you happen to run into her on the street and notice her wearing headphones do NOT disturb her. She is not responsible for any possible damage. Aside from the above she's very sweet and perky and responds well to good music and food.
