BEST ELECTRO MUSIC - WEEK 31 2014

7/30/14

It's been two whole weeks of Tomorrowland live streaming, and finally the ravers are getting off their parents' wi-fi connections and back to their real lives. Here's a perfect mid-week treat for you kids to soothe you back into society. Some dope tracks full of beautiful beats, silly synths and bouncy bass. Alliterative adjectives are amazing.

Please enjoy each track more than the last.

SOPHIE - LEMONADE

Sophie is back with another bubbly experimental track. Pop hooks for days, when he FEELS like it. This just furthers our love for Sophie even though the whole BitCandy team has been on top of him for a minute now. We had an entire team outing to see Sophie play in LA a couple of months back. So next summer when he is on every festival line-up, we'll be here telling you toldyaso. :)

HUDSON MOHAWKS - CHIMES

Let me preface this little blurb by saying "goddamnit why can't TNGHT just get back together already jesus fucking chrise." This track is catchy and memorable as fuck. I already got it stuck in my head. It's got the same huge synths as TNGHT but there's still Lunice's craziness missing from this track. :(

ANNA LUNOE - ALL OUT (MOTEZ REMIX)

It's not super easy to make me enjoy Anna Lunoe more than I already do. Motez succeeds. Motez always success. All of his remixes are out of control. Here he mixes Anna Lunoe's booty-bass with some of those Tropical House sounds that the kids love so much now a days.

KLINGANDE - JUBEL (TUBE & BERGER REMIX)

This groovy, tech-house summer time jam is carried by a soothing vocal melody and horn sample. This is summertime music. And fortunately for us, it IS still summertime. Go get your swim trunks on. Call your friend with a pool (ME) and let's get wet to some Tube and some Berger and some Klingande. CooL? cool.

THE ANJUNADEEP EDITION 10 W/ABOVE & BEYOND (LIVE FROM RIO)

I'm not into the idea of posting Soundcloud mixes here. I think that you like to listen to the tracks on the page (and then read the blurb while you do). If you listen to a mix we keep you on the page for a while but then you totally forget which tab was playing music and you never come back to it. But hopefully my acknowledgement of this problem will make you remember when this beautiful live Above & Beyond mix ends. Go ahead, trance out on reedit for an hour. We'll be here waiting.

DAWN GOLDEN - LAST TRAIN (DAKTYL REMIX)

One of my buddies runs a Bass Night in LA called Bass Tribe. He's been hyping Dakytl up for a minute. This dude knows what he's talking about when it comes to Bass music. I've been too busy or too stupid to pay attention until this moment right now. It's bass music for sure, but unlike any I've ever heard. It's got a little Lindsay Lowend, a little Cashmere Cat, and a whole lot of not giving a fuck about what other music sounds like. It's calm and soothing at first, letting it build and then as if from nowhere at 1:38 that rapid bass kicks in and I like everything Daktyl has too offer. New sounds, new rhythms, new ideas. Maybe it's time to start listening to my friend about more shit.

STEVIE WONDER - SUPERSTITION (C2C REMIX)

I saw C2C at Coachella 2012, but it wasn't by choice. I got dragged there by my friends/girlfriend. I was SUPER anti, 'cause I read somewhere that they were basically a boy band. BUT DAMN if I ain't changing my tune now. These dudes are releasing some of the most fun music in the world right now. Scratching ain't dead.

RYAN HEMSWORTH - GODS (WITH UV BOI)

I admit it. I'm a Ryan Hemsworth fangirl. Everything he touches as a producer just like GETS me. You know. That being said, this is his hyphiest shit in a minute (gonna have to credit that to UV boi). It also helps that I fucking love jokes and this track includes the iPhone text message sound (over silence) so if you're listening to this on your phone it makes you think you got notifications. Good thing I was listening to this on my phone. :)

HANNAH WANTS & CHRIS LORENZO FT. JANAI - SIGNS

I lurve the dirty birds. Hannah Wants & Chris Lorenzo are the new class and goddamn if they aren't proving their worth on the roster. This song is some beautiful, groovy, haunting tech-house. My FAV <3 <3 <3. Hannah Wants is the new DJ crush (the last one was J.Phlip though, so clearly I have a type ;)).

DUKE DUMONT - WON'T LOOK BACK

WHERE THE FUCK have I been for the past month? This shit has been up on soundcloud for a month (with a Yuma tent cover photo nonetheless) and I missed it? The road is fucking tough. You have to make sacrifices like missing some of the best tracks in the world, just 'cause you don't have a constant wi-fi connection. This song is the grooviest deepest funkiest track I've heard all fucking year.

on repeat. on repeat. on repeat.

BASEMENT JAXX - NEVER SAY NEVER (TIESTO & MOTI REMIX)

The original is a banger in its own right. The Mark Knight remix is out of fucking control. Then here comes to Tiesto & MOTi Remix, built for main stage audiences, and it's awesome too. Thanks Tiesto. Thank you for bringing some of those Jaxx sounds to the American public. Basement Jaxx should be bigger than daylight live sets at Ultra and undersold club shows at Verboten in NYC. Let's get these guys back to the top. Let's make it 2004 again.

Thanks Again. Thanks Always. You are dear, dear friends.

- KURT

About Kurt Kroeber

From deep within the murky depths of the Los Angeles River emerged a creature: 50% raver, 50% comedian, 10% Robotcop. Kurt Kroeber doesn’t own a dog, operates Soundbleed (the world’s only dance party comedy talk show rave), and is down to party with you. Come up some time and say “Hey dude!” But definitely make sure to casually drop the secret Illuminati password.
