BEST INDIE POP - WEEK 22

5/29/15

It’s here! After a week of waiting, the top Indie Pop songs are finally here and I thank you all for being so patient with my procrastinating ass. I was in the process of waiting to see if I could squeeze in another track, but the featured artists that make up this week’s playlist are pretty solid. There’s so much goodness oozing out of The Chainsmokers, Goldroom, DeathTeam and the rest. Take a listen for yourselves and be sure to let us know which one here was your favorite.

MUMFORD & SONS - I WILL WAIT (LIVE FROM THE ARTISTS DEN)

Who better than Mumford & Sons to bring an audience to its feet?! I can think of a couple other bands, but for sake of this post I’ll stick with the mentioned banjo playing band. “I Will Wait” still holds the same effect on me now as it did when I first heard it. It’s a song that brings me to tears for no effing reason, making it a go to track for when I’m feeling down.

THE CHAINSMOKERS - GOOD INTENTIONS FT. BULLY SONGS

Oooh, gawd damn, this right here is a muy caliente track! The hot dj duo will have more than just your head bobbing. Their latest original track featuring guest vocals of Bully Songs will be one of the hottest singles on the dance floor this summer. You ready for some heavy rotations of “Good Intentions”?

GOLDROOM - EMBRACE (FT. GEORGE MAPLE)

While filtering through my email I happened to open up an email with this awesomeness. I am not quite sure what made me release a small amount of drool: The fact that Goldroom released new music, or Goldroom partnering up with George Maple. Yep, it’s both. Now, if you’ll excuse me I have to go change my panties now.

THE HOOD INTERNET - NO CHROME (BLACKSTREET x  RATATAT)

You’re going to like the way The Hood Internet worked this fly remix. The producers continue to bring their A-game by keeping their songs sounding super fresh. The merging of chosen artists is the perfect amount of quirkiness that we are all in need of.

GIRLI - SO YOU THINK YOU CAN FUCK WITH ME DO YA (PROD. MR. WATT)

Hold on to your seats cuz you are in for an effing ride with Girli. Her style lies in between several genres with pc sounding like a dominant gear. This has huge potential to have a major breakthrough and conquer the ears of many. For more of Girli, be sure to check to her SoundCloud; it doesn’t disappoint.

JAMIE FOXX - IN LOVE BY NOW

My only problem with this beautiful track is that Jamie Foxx is singing it. If we were to just change the man behind the mic, the song would be perfect. Since Jamie is singing it I feel like the connection is lost. The words have no meaning. The song is soon forgotten, and the impact it could have had is not even a thought.

GENER8ION FEAT M.I.A. - THE NEW INTERNATIONAL SOUND (PART II)

Being that I clearly missed part 1, I can only speak for part II and part II is fire. The hybrid track is somewhat of a surprise. The flow is heavy but very well balanced. Serves as a motivation to keep on hustling. Keeping this one on repeat for a while.

KILTER - WANT 2 (FEAT PORSCHES)

Keep an eye out for this Australian producer! This is the kind of track I would expect to be playing at an ultra hipster club because it’s super sleek, super fresh, and super sexy. Them bouncy beats make you want to drop everything you’re doing and dance to the music.

DEATH TEAM - SO FRESH

This is the calmest song I’ve heard from chaotic band Death Team. With a sound that resembles Die Antwoord, these guys are one of the hottest and most exciting acts of 2015. Unapologetic, bratty, and damn catchy, “So Fresh” is something you hope will linger around for a while.

Well looks like that’s all we got for now. We’ll be back next week with more pop treats. Yum, treats!

About Beca Arredondo

Beca Arredondo is easily unamused with all things not related to her interests. On her good days you can catch her avoiding the California sun and glued to her Mac plotting the next big thing. If you happen to run into her on the street and notice her wearing headphones do NOT disturb her. She is not responsible for any possible damage. Aside from the above she's very sweet and perky and responds well to good music and food.
