BEST NEW INDIE: BRUNO MAJOR - PLACES WE WON'T WALK

6/6/17

Did you know we’re in the middle of 2017 already? Doesn’t it feel like just yesterday that the nation started imploding? Life comes at you fast, I know. So here at We Are: The Guard, we want to remind you to take advantage of those bright moments in life, no matter how short they may be. “Places We Won’t Walk,” UK songwriter Bruno Major’s new track, will help with that. It’s a sobering track on a piano that will have you yearning for brisk, autumn days. Take a listen below.

BRUNO MAJOR - PLACES WE WON'T WALK

On his Facebook page, Bruno Major lists singer/songwriter Rufus Wainwright as an influence, and it shows immensely in “Places We Won’t Walk.” I’d rather not try to sell the tune short by calling it “pleasant,” but Bruno’s song embodies the word perfectly. The simplicity of his piano-playing and the charming tone to his vocals is reminiscent of a stroll through a park; of feeding crumbs of bread to ducks on a sunny day.

Yet there’s a wistful air to the track, betraying its blissful cadence by injecting just a little sadness into the track. “Places We Won’t Walk” is a short, fleeting song, and works as a reminder that even the “pleasant” moments in life are still brief and short-lived. Take “Places We Won’t Walk” as it is, and enjoy Bruno Major’s skillful and sweet composition for its entire length. And then maybe press repeat to keep the small joy going.

Bruno Major has been releasing a new song every month, and it seems it’s likely to culminate into a full-length record. Feel free to check out his other offerings on Soundcloud.
