Curator Duffster's Indie Finds - Week 40

by Robert Duffy | 9/29/13

YEEZUS! Did you view that Kanye West minterview and spat with Kimmel afterwards, this week? Of course you did. Mind numbing shit from the "number one rock star on the planet" HA! What ruddy planet? We have a word here in Scotland for people like Kanye and it ryhmes with.. kunt.  Time to soak up the much quotable West with greater talent including BEN KHAN, THE ROYAL CONCEPT, LITTLE MAY and a must see vid from the superb BORED NOTHING.

BEN KHAN - EDEN

I flagged up his debut single ("Drive Part 1") a couple months back, kept tabs on him and his Tumblr account B/V (Blessed Vice) waiting for Part 2? He's just dropped this great follow-up in EDEN + a fantastic visual. Ben Khan is one to note.

CLAIRE - BROKEN PROMISE LAND

Berlin trio CLAIRE has been causing a stir this summer with their 'Games' single which has been remixed by Passion Pit this week too. However, I'm enjoying the excellent pulsating "Broken Promise Land" from their latest EP.

H A R T E B E E S T - DEATH

I have two projects monitored that have been dropping teaser snippets to their debut track(S) for what feels an age. "Death" didn't disappoint though when finally uploaded this week from the Electronic duo.

THE ROYAL CONCEPT - RADIO

Struggling to get this chorus out my head - so fucking infectious yet again from The Royal Concept. Today we are all Royals. The EP is a must for any collection.

BORED NOTHING - LET DOWN

Huh Huh who hasn't been here in their youth? I dig this vid that has cult status written all over it. No Rachel Hunter here. Lo-Fi MILF alert. Tick.

LITTLE MAY - HIDE

I mentioned last week about how much talent is emerging from down under - and this all female Sydney trio is the latest band added to my set. Indie Folk & soaring harmonies, bliss.

CATHEDRALS - UNBOUND

Another mystery duo? Feel a theme here, less is more that seems to be the way for new projects. San Francisco Electronic Pop duo Cathedrals are the latest to offer little to no info other than a mint debut + a free MP3 with a sign-up via their website. Get in.

POSTILJONEN - ALL THAT WE HAD IS LOST (1987 REMIX)

Postiljonen are one of my finest 'finds' for this site way before the hype kicked in and here is a chilled remix of their Whitney cover by another promising Scandinavian outfit 1987.

NORDIC GIANTS - VIOLENT LIGHTS (ft. ALEX HEDLEY)

Is this Britain's answer to Sigur Ros? Overwhelming and epic post/rock here from Brighton's elusive duo has had me lost in a wall of perfection today exploring their work. Enjoy.

CHLØË BLACK - BREAKING BAD

Throwing in this dark soulful goth vid from French/Australian Chloë Black, which is fitting as we say au revoir to the stellar series with this Walter White approved unofficial closing track.

FOALS - OUT OF THE WOODS (KULKID REMIX)

I can't get enough of Kulkid's remixes at the moment. He uploads some fantastic stuff daily to his Soundcloud and this latest upload of "Out Of The Woods" from the brilliant Foals is a great example of his talent.
