NEW ARTIST FINDS: FURA

5/7/14

So, if you're anything like our curator Duffster, you must enjoy women with sweet sultry singing voices, or maybe even ones that are slightly twisted, and dark with a melancholic sense of honesty and freedom that you cannot ignore. Well today, our curator Duffster shares another one of his Nordic Warrior female artists making moves in the world of music....FURA.

Definitely art-pop, it is defiantly dark and sneaky...i feel as if the sounds she has produced have actually allowed us to envision the dark world of someone struggling nightly civil-wars with themselves. It's inviting yet unexplainably mysterious. She sounds like the definition of a "siren." So yeah, to all you fisherman out there: Don't let your boats drift too close to the Icelandic shores at night, or else you will clearly be driven to the rocks and washed away by the beautifully enchanting and absolutely vindicated voice of FURA.

Dark-Electric-Country-pop? I don't know, but I'm really glad I can't exactly classify this one either. Finally! People are starting to break the mold a little bit and get artsier with their creations! However, this is not to sell this fantastic piece short by any means. "Poems of the Past" is incredibly mature. It will probably strike fans of the more recent Chelsea Wolfe. Her presence is very powerful, and it is clear that she has a background that was heavily rooted in melody composition and wordsmithing...I really do feel some of the most amazing harmony work and song composition comes from that Scandinavian region over there. It's a region that is fairly misunderstood and taken as a darker place that only produces black / death / thrash metal bands whose logos you cannot read. But there is so much more. Iceland is not just cold. It is wonderfully beautiful...So is FURA...go check her out!
