New Indie Music - 11 Picks! (Week 38)

by Jess Grant | 9/16/13

Before your lose your social life to GTA V (which has a BitCandy approved soundtrack!) on Tuesday, check out this week's top new indie music. Thanks to the Curators who helped me out with today's picks from Active Child, Volcano Choir, Lorde and more. If you think you've got what it takes to contribute to our weekly round ups, sign up to be a Curator. To find out how that works, click over here.

Little Boots “Satellite”

Dear Madonna, forgive me, MDNA, it's time for you to check into the retirement home! Little Boots has got this whole electronica pop shit thing covered on her absolutely killer new album, Nocturnes.

Volcano Choir “Comrade”

Earlier this year, Kanye West took his hand out of Justin Vernon's ass so he could go record an album with side project, Volcano Choir. “Comrade” is the standout track on Repave, out now on Jagjaguwar.

Lorde “Team” (Curator Duffster)

After tearing it up with “Royals” and “Tennis Court” (which BitCandy made a lyric video for!) New Zealand whiz kid, Lorde, unveils “Team.” This chick has a zazzy attitude problem and I'm loving it!

Active Child “Subtle (Feat. Mikky Ekko)”

Active Child teams up with Mikky Ekko (that dude in that Rihanna song!) on “Subtle,” which kind of ends up sounding like Michael Jackson, if Michael Jackson was ginger and purveyor of hymntronica.

Hunx & His Punx “Street Punk Trilogy”

Not one, not two, but three tracks feature in this straight up insane spectacle from San Francisco's hell raisers, Hunx & His Punx! For more from Seth Bogart, check out Street Punk, out now on Hardly Art.

The Smashing Pumpkins - 1979

Just a little treat from the 90s to get everyone all fuzzy and nostalgic.

Laura Welsh “Undiscovered”

Undiscovered” was written alongside Dev Hynes, who has a magical touch when it comes to ladies, including Solange, Britney and Florence! Does anybody else remember Dev's old band, Test Icicles?

Jungle “The Heat”

A new song (and promotional photograph!) from groovy British duo, Jungle. Grab this, “Drops” and “Platoon” on The Heat EP, out in October via our friends Blah Blah Blah Science's hot label, B3SCI.

Moonface “Everyone Is Noah, Everyone Is The Ark”

Spencer Krug of Wolf Parade, Sunset Rubdown, and basically like every Canadian band ever, revives his Mooface project with this intense ballad from Julia With Blue Jeans, out in October on Jagjaguwar.

RY X “Berlin”

RY X launched the Chill Out in tear jerking style on Friday! Now it's time for y'all indie kids to get a kick in the feels from “Berlin,” the first track taken from the Australian's debut EP of the same name.

Mother Falcon “Marigold (Live)”

If you think “Reflektor” sucks (it's just seven minutes of the same thing repeated over and over!) then get to know “the new Arcade Fire,” Mother Falcon, who recently did this epic live session for WFUV!
