TOP INDIE SONGS - WEEK 7 PART 2 2015

2/10/15

With Valentines Day quickly approaching, single folks become extra aware of their loneliness while those who are coupled up are either giddy with love or worrying about creating the perfect date night. (Answer: pizza, beer, and candy. Done.) Luckily, we’ve found even more awesome indie tracks of the week to help you through this ridiculously pink and red season. Read on to discover the latest from Osca, Prinze George, Dog Orchestra, and more!

EARL SWEATSHIRT- DROP (DIVERSA REMIX)

We’re going to kick off today’s list on an awesomely dark and weird note with Diversa’s remix of Earl Sweatshirt’s track, “Drop.” Diversa gives the track an even heavier and warped vibe that sounds as if you’re listening in an underwater dungeon, making for a super weird and fresh remix that gives off a slight Death Grips vibe.

DOG ORCHESTRA - CLUB FRAGIL FEAT. LUNE

Brand new Swedish duo, Dog Orchestra, just signed to BitCandy’s very own label and are making magic with their latest track, “Club Fragil.” Featuring silky smooth vocals from singer Lune, the slow burning track is packed with dreamy electronics, soaring synths, and a slow echoey beat that makes for a wonderfully enchanting five minutes.

OSCA - SLEEPTALK

We’ve been paying attention to London based four-piece Osca for a while now, and their latest track, “Sleeptalk,” proves they’re on a roll when it comes to making well-crafted indie pop songs. Featuring Coldplay-like vocals, gentle guitar playing, and whimsical electronic elements, it’s a catchy and calming track you can’t help but love.

CAVALIER - BE YOUR GIRL (OSHI REMIX)

New London based producer Oshi takes Cavalier’s smooth R&B track, “Be Your Girl,” and gives it a brand new vibe. Leaving the vocals pretty much as is, Oshi adds big synths, delightfully melodic electronics and some awesomely big beats that will totally take you by surprise just after one minute in.

KARL KLING - CAREFUL

Karl Kling of the popular remix collective, RAC, is starting to focus on his solo project and “Careful” is his latest warm and uplifting release. Featuring ‘80s-inspired synth lines and soft vocals reminiscent of Ben Gibbered, it’s catchy, warm, and will fill that musical void in your heart left by the Postal Service.

DAWN GOLDEN - ALL I WANT (ILLENIUM REMIX)

San Francisco based producer Nicholas Miller, aka Illenium (rad stage name, by the way!), took Dawn Golden’s dark and broody slow jam, “All I Want,” and gave it a warm make over. He left the emotional vibe of the original, but gave the track new life with the addition of bright synths, EDM-ish electronic elements, and an over all perky twist when it comes to the song’s chorus.

PRINZE GEORGE - WE ARE DREAMERS FEAT. MISUN WOJCIK

Although Summer is still a few months away, it will feel like it’s already here with Prinze George’s latest track, “We Are Dreamers,” and I think it just might be my favorite of the week! Featuring vocals from Washington-based singer Misun Wojcik, it’s a wonderfully uplifting track packed with shimmering synths, bouncy club beats, and all of the ingredients needed to make the perfect indie-pop dance track.

JUDE. - WITHOUT YOU

Now we’ll end things with Florida’s stylishly dark electropop duo, Jude. (yes, the period is part of their name) and their latest single, “Without You.” Featuring brooding vocals from singer Sydney Morris, haunting guitar, steady drum machine beats, and tons of moody electronic elements, it’s a solid laid back track that will make you want to listen to the rest of their stuff (if you haven’t already).

And that’s all for now! See you next week, and have a great time doing whatever you’ll be doing this Valentines Day.
