Best Mashups 2013 | BitCandy Mashup Top List of the Year
It’s mid way through 2013, and that means it’s time to post my favorite Mashups of the year...so far. Don’t worry, I’m not going to get crazy on your ass. Of course, you know because you are on BitCandy we’ve already filtered just the best for you. In other words, out of the hundreds of mashups worth listening, I’ve giving you 20. Literally...because...
Despite my ongoing fight with SoundCloud that mashups are promotional and generally non licensable (which they are)...I thought you might just like to get 20 free downloads in one shot. So here ya go, mashup lovers! Just plop your email address in the widget and the download link will be sent to your email.
And then the 10 blasters below are just some samples of the jams you’ll be getting. And I dare say some of these top mashups actually have made the sum of each individual song even better. But that’s what a great mashup should do: take two songs you wouldn’t expect to work together and skillfully jumble them in a cohesive sticky ear confection.
Thanks for peeps like The Hood Internet, pomDeter, Lobsterdust and others that consistently deliver the goods. Let’s get started...
Doin It Good - Kanye vs Daft Punk [The Hood Internet]
Hey Kanye...I saw you “Doin It Good” walking into that street sign. That’s ok, you were tough and “Brushed that Dirt Off Your Shoulder.” Sorry I am using a Jay Z reference...it’s the best i could come up with.
Default Lane (Nicki Minaj vs Atoms for Peace) [The Hood Internet]
Suddenly both Nicki Minaj AND Atoms for Peace sound listenable.
U Can’t Touch My Humps (Black Eyed Peas vs MC Hammer) [Paddy]
Oh Will.I.Am...master of the dumb. Emperor of the inane. 4 Star General of the 80 IQ lyrics. Except that this is kinda a masterpiece. Damn me right now.

Beautiful BBC Gold (Marilyn Manson vs BBC Gold) [pomDeter]
pomDeter is one of my favorite new mashup artists. His mashups are just so obscure and weird...I mean, Marilyn Manson’s “Beautiful People” with the BBC Classic Golf theme. Genius.
And on that note this is both at the same time sacrilegious and ear confectionistic great.
Call Me A Hole (Nine Inch Nails vs Carly Rae Jepsen) [pomDeter]
Ahh yes, the Prince of Industrial Darkness (my favorite) and Princess of (so far) One Hit Wonder, Carly Rae Jepsen.
Prayer of Dice (Bon Jovi vs Tiesto) [Lobsterdust]
As you may know from my “Why Radiohead is Better than Bon Jovi” post...you know I’m a fan of the Jon Bon. And I’m not kidding. Had enough jangly indie tunes that you can’t sing? Just get Bon Jovi’s “Crossroads”...and Jon, Richie Sambora and the boys will set you straight.
Adornocene (Bon Iver vs Miguel) [The Hood Internet]
In between Bon Iver making workout tapes and Miguel’s crotch paralyzing stage jumps, the two had time to get together (with the help of The Hood Internet) to surgeon up this great one.
212 Paradise (Azealia Banks vs YACHT) [The Hood Internet]
Poor, poor Azealia Banks. Not a good song since “212.” Well, at least we can marvel at this great area code song put in a different light mashed up with YACHT.
Some Nights I’m Your Pusher (Fun. vs Ice-T vs Fatman Scoop) [Lloyd]
Have you ever seen “The Pusher Triology” directed by Nicolas Winding-Refn, the man behind “Drive” with Ryan Gossling? Super highly recommended...You Tube trailer here. (Don’t hold it against me it’s all in Danish but Pusher 1 2 and 3 will rock your world).
Obedearmomma (Purity Ring vs 2Pac) [Chip Ivory]
Even 2Pac’s hologram couldn’t save the lackluster lineup at Coachella 2013 this year. Not to worry, I hear the Justin Bieber hologram tour is getting underway. Oh wait a minute...I forgot he didn’t overdose yet.
So did you love these and my witty little literature? No....well, screw you, baby. No seriously...Tell me what best mashups of 2013 I missed below so we can make Pt 2. Much like Katie Holmes looking for her next 5 year beard contract, we aim to please.
Until next time, you’re just going to have to “wheel with it.”
