Best of Weekly Alt Pop / Hip Hop! (10 Tracks)

9/19/12

Looking for the very best new pop music?  OK .. well first...honest to God story I was walking down Sunset Blvd today in West Hollywood and this beautiful pure metallic silver Fisker  electric sports car drove by...I was starting at the car...but other people were staring at the driver.  Yeah...Justing Fucking Bieber.  I see you on Sunset Blvd boy-eee...but ahhhhh...I don’t see ya, JB on BitCandy’s PopKiller Best of Alternative Pop weekly summary, douchey (not that you care Biebz).  And why not?  Well, u don't make great pop, indie pop, mashups, remixes, alternative rap...all the pleasure without the guilt...OK enough...let’s get started.

Swedish House Mafia - Don't You Worry Child ft. John Martin

The funny part of this is that they aren’t actually “playing” anything here and as Deadmau5 so eloquently “outed” all the DJs not too long ago http://deadmau5.tumblr.com/post/25690507284/we-all-hit-play ...SHM are really just “pressing play” here.  It’s not like we’re seeing Def Leppard in the round performing “Pour Some Sugar On Me.”    But alas, DJs are today’s rock stars.  WTF.  Still love the song and the video.

The Killers - Runaways

The jury is still out if this next The Killers album is more filler than killer… but judging by this track...looking for “killer.”

Kanye West - Clique f/Big Sean & JAY-Z

It was a big radio ad week for Kanye west and his clickety “Clique” jam with Big Sean & Jay-Z...actually “Imma let you finish”...but we have a lot more Kanye in this post so keep reading.

Ellie Goulding - Anything Could Happen (Birdy Nam Nam Remix)

Ellie Goulding is “our” kind of pop.  The new album Halcyon is coming out early October and you know what....we can’t wait!  We might even have our hands on advance.

Jack White - Forever 21

I’ve always thought Jack White got a free pass wayyyy too much after The White Stripes....with a lot of hype and “whatever” or “that’s nice, dear” forgetful type of rock music.   Have to say I’m totally loving the new track and video here.

Blondfire - Where the Kids Are

We first wrote up the song 2 month ago in an earlier PopKiller Best of Pop summary,  but it seems that 1 great video later they are on their way to maybe making quite a nice impact and hopefully you’ll hear on the radio soon (cuz this is quite good!!)

Carly Rae Jepsen - Tonight I’m Getting Over You

You can say what you want about us putting some Carly Rae Jepsen songs in here.  Haters will hate.  Lovers will Love.  The fact is...these are great pop songs....and we are UNASHAMEDLY all about about GREAT pop songs.

2 Chainz -  Birthday Song f/Kanye West

I told you there would be some more Kanye.  But what I didn’t tell you is there would be gratuitous booty shaking.  Enter the booty shaking.  Mega.

Don't Like.1 feat. Kanye West, Chief Keef, Pusha T, Big Sean & Jadakiss

More music from G.O.O.D. and Kayne’s project.   G.O.O.D. Music delivers as always...with lyrics like “Girls Kissing Girls Cuz It’s Hot Right / But Unless They Use a Strap On They’re Not Dykes”...you know what you’re getting into.

G.O.O.D. Music - Creepers feat. Kid Cudi

My theory is that Kid Cudi needs to back to drugs to start making great music again.   Based on this track...my hunch is the liquid cocaine is flowing.

Gotye - Eyes Wide Open (Tanlines remix)

Sorry One Direction...Gotye and this Tanlines Remix took your spot here on the PopKiller post...BWHWHWHAAAWAAAHAHAHAAA.

Atlas Genius - Trojans (Lyric Video)

Making some headway at United States alternative radio is Atlas Genius with their “genius” song “Trojans.”  It’s about time.
